Password reset error. Now I can't access my account.
I reset my password to my account. Seems simple and innocent enough.
I don't recieve the email which should give me my password. I check spam folder, spam filters etc. and try again. Still nothing.
I wait a few days, still nothing.
I contact the GW support team, and they tell me:
Quote:
Dear Escreon,
So that we can change your password manually for you, please provide us the following information:
• Your access key
• The email address used to create your account
• The creation date of your Guild Wars Account
• A scan or a digital picture of your access key (copy of the original)
• A scan or a digital picture of your proof of purchase, if still available
Kind regards
The Guild Wars Support Team.

I don't have access to my key or receipt, I bought the GW collector's edition over a year ago. I tell them this, they say:
Quote:
Dear Escreon,
Thanks for your update.
Unfortunately, we require the 25-digit access key in order to verify your account. If you are unable to provide this, then unfortunately we will be unable to assist you further in this issue.
Kind regards
The Guild Wars Support Team

So, because of the password reset messing up, I have now lost my account. My account that, with GW Collector's edition and GW:F I have spent £80 on. I now can not access it again. Ever.

I'm assuming you tried reseting your password more than once?

About ten times.
It's not a question of not caring about the game, I didn't think I'd ever need the key again. I don't see why they can't email the password to me though, as that's exactly what the reset is supposed to do.

If anyone has had experience in the past, would the factions access key work, also?

Could someone have stolen your e-mail password. Read the e-mail and found out your password then deleted the e-mail? Does any of your friends have your e-mail password?

Are you obsolutely sure you used the same e-mail as the one you use to log in with? Are you using a work or school e-mail addy? Sometimes they will block certain e-mail addresses. Double check that you didn't accidentally put a-net in your block list also. If you request a password reset you should get it in e-mail without fail and if they did go ahead an e-mail you with the reset password, how can you be sure you'de even get it?
I've used the reset with my kids quite a few times (they kept forgetting the password) and it's never given me any problem, even if i did the reset twice in a row.

Speaking for my friend.
The password was secure, and the email should not have blocked it (We checked the block settings and the spam section.) We have attempted to reset it multiple times over the last 5 days.

If you use Netscape mail beaware that things just dont end up in your mail for some reason. They dont end up in spam, junk mail, etc so I just switched to gmail and now I get anything I want + 2.5 gb worth of email space that I will never use.

I have also received the same request from support about changing passwords etc. Lucky enough for me I was able to figure out what I did wrong and it worked, BUT, I bought my Prophecies online in Apr/May'05 and cannot find what I did with the key.
I only hope nothing ugly happens otherwise there goes my Prophecies too.

I'm gonna say one thing... Anet's support is POS. My other account got hacked a while ago and I wanted to know who all my things were given away to and asked them for a daily log for my account. They said out logs are private and are not meant to be shared with customers. I'm like wtf its my account...

How do they do that anyhow? I heard of people's gold dissapearing and sum such, but I always assumed it was due to a glitch. Or is this something that robs you of the entire account?

Oh well it's all more complicated than that. I recieved that account from my friend and barely used it and I finally decided to make ss/sv there. My other friend wanted to try out SS/SV and the account was in europe so it was perfect back then. He farmed there and had like 20k on the account and I had like 80 in items and gold. One day I logged in and everything was gone (including BAGS... I was like lmfao who would steal bags). So I checked my friend's account and it was clean... no signs of stolen things. I asked anet for a log to see if he had anything to do with it and they said GTFO.
